Guerrilla Rapid Support Forces (RSF) gunmen routinely open fire on crowds of people as they flee, the United Nations reports. Kamumiro Police Chief confirmed the midnight incident saying, ‘‘People were attending overnight prayers when the attack happened. After the night prayers, they decided to sleep in the church. However, shortly after sleeping, people armed with pangas raided the church and started randomly hacking members of the congregation. One died on the spot, while others are nursing grave injuries. The majority of them were killed inside the student residence that was bombed while the others were found dead at the classes doing preps. The headteacher also added that the attackers abducted an unknown number of students. So far, 25 bodies have been recovered, and eight victims remain in critical condition. The actual number of people who were killed is yet to be established as more bodies are being recovered. The junta invaded and worked destruction in Christian areas such as the Karen, Kachin and Chin states, but recently even the majority Burmese in central Myanmar have become disgusted with the junta’s actions. The brief lull in the fighting reportedly allowed for vital humanitarian aid to be distributed. Heavy engagements occurred in the cities of Bahri, Omdurman, and Khartoum, according to local sources. This comes as the Egyptian government tightens restrictions for Sudanese refugees fleeing north, and as analysts warn about the destabilizing effect of the ongoing conflict in Sudan throughout the region. We were surprised by the ADF while we were in our houses,” said village resident Socrates Mumbere. An unknown number of people were also abducted during the attack. Mumbere said Congolese and Ugandan troops were stationed just three kilometers (2 miles) from the site of the attack. Daniel Danbeki of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Takalafiya village, Karu County, and his wife were killed along with villagers who were sleeping in their homes the night of May 11 in the attack that lasted until the early hours of May 12,” survivors told Morning Star News. Russian President Vladimir Putin responded saying Ukraine is trying to frighten Russian citizens, and condemned the attack. A few buildings in Moscow had minor damage and some residents were evacuated from their homes.
