James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Our Mission

To educate Christian churches through evangelistic speaking that engages, impacts and encourages God’s people who call on the name of Jesus Christ to hear the cries of the persecuted church through church and conference speaking, pastor trainings ; and by bringing hope and promise into the lives of the widows and orphans (James 1:27) the homeless ( Matthew 25) and the lost (Matthew 28:18-20), through our various ministries to these groups both in America and abroad.

Our Vision

We are a people who call on the name of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are a people who hear the cries of Our God our Father’s children. We are a people who because of God’s grace and love are called to be the hands and feet of Christ.

Meet Getaneh

Photo - Getanah GetanahGetaneh M. Getaneh, founder of Watch and Pray Ministries, is a gentle man whose radiant face belies the horrors he experienced during the red terror of the Mengistu regime in Ethiopia.

  • Arrested by the Communist authorities for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Jailed in Ethiopia and in Djibouti
  • Was repeatedly denied food, water, and sleep for days
  • Was tortured with boiling oil poured on the soles of his feet
  • Was whipped with a metal cable during his many years in prison

He eventually escaped prison and fled to neighboring Djibouti. When the Communist government fell in 1994, he returned to Ethiopia.

Through all the difficulties, his commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ endured.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday
and today and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8

Our Evangelists

We currently support evangelists in Ethiopia. Some of these evangelists are converts from Islam who have been trained to work among their own people. As a result 425 have been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and there have been 5 churches started.

Our evangelists spread the Gospel in areas completed dominated by the Islamic religion. Through it all his commitment to "The Lord Jesus Christ" endured.

Ministry to the Homeless: Project Mercy

At present, we have more than 50 homeless families on our prayer and waiting list. We would love to be able to assist them in building a simple hut. The cost of building a simple hut or what they call a "house" is only between $85-$100.00, depending upon the area.

This past year we were not able to find satisfactory response to cover this very urgent need. This young man's mother was homeless, poor and starving so he went to the city to live life as a beggar to help her. Because of one generous donor who contributed $245.00 we were able to build a house for them both, buy back their land from the government, buy an ox for them, and buy enough grain for them for a year during the harvest time.

And best of all this young man was able to give up begging for food, return home and was trained to be an evangelist. He now goes around the region preaching the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord! AMEN and Praise the Lord!
